About Erin
“Yoga is relationship and reverence, union and intention...recognition of what is true now...unpacking assumptions with respect and acceptance...so we can MEET WHAT IS HERE NOW!”
Erin has been teaching yoga for more than 25 years. She is a certified 500-hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT) with the Yoga Alliance, and a certified MELT Method instructor. Additionally, while living in England, she was certified by the British Wheel of Yoga, a three-year yoga teacher training program recognized by the British government. In 2012, Erin added to her teaching repertoire by receiving a double certification as an instructor of the MELT Method, a specialized connective tissue release protocol which promotes healing and eliminates pain.
Erin teaches beginning yoga, vigorous Vinyasa yoga flow for more seasoned practitioners, and an all-levels mindful-movement class she created called Qigong Yoga Flow. By infusing her classes with warmth, humor and extensive yoga and movement experience, Erin taps into the vast richness of yoga in a way that surpasses the simple physical practice of asana.
Although she teaches multiple yoga styles, Erin's specialty is Yin Yoga, a profound practice that emphasizes long-held but passive poses, which enhance flexibility in the joints and instill lightness and grace in the body. She learned from the best, training extensively with master Yin Yoga instructors Paul Grilley, Sarah Powers, and Erich Schiffmann. Erin’s audio CD “Yin Yoga: The Essential Practice” won rave reviews from Yoga Journal and Alternative Medicine Magazine.
Erin is also experienced in creating yoga programs for both fitness facilities and private companies. In 2003, she developed the yoga program at Bay Club Marin and served as the Yoga Director there for 12 years, leading a staff of 65 teachers with over 40 classes per week. Erin remained a senior yoga instructor with The Club until 2021. In 2004, Erin also created the yoga program for the employees at Lucas Film and taught there for 12 years.
In May 2020, Erin was invited to join the medical staff of an Integrative Medicine Practice headed by Dr. Brad Jacobs, located at Cavallo Point in Sausalito, California. Working among Dr. Jacob's seasoned team of practitioners, Erin’s specialties and private patient sessions include movement, meditation, yoga and the MELT Method.
Currently, Erin teaches six in-person classes per week, including Yin Yoga and The MELT Method, at The Studio Mill Valley. Check the Classes page for details.
Through her yoga company, Yogadeva International, Erin has led retreats, teacher trainings, and workshops in over 20 countries and destinations, including in England, North Wales, Spain, Denmark, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, France, Italy, Hawaii, Monaco, Greece, Turkey, Morocco, India, Bali, Thailand, Singapore, Sonoma and Portugal. Check the Retreats page for more information.
Erin is a Marin County, California native and received her degree in Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco. When not teaching or leading an international retreat, Erin is still a perpetual student taking Gyrokinesis, Pilates and anatomy classes. A lover of the outdoors, she can also be found in her garden playing with her cats, or hiking through hills of Marin.
